The Jerusalem Campus of Arts

The Jerusalem Arts Campus, will promote collaboration between Jerusalem’s
artistic communities and have a dramatic impact on the city as a whole. The
Mayor’s strategic vision for the city includes a keen focus on growing the city’s
creative class and bringing them to the city center. The creative class theory,
developed by Professor Richard Florida, who is acting as a consultant for the city
of Jerusalem, indicates that the “creative class”, composed of knowledge workers,
intellectual professionals, and artists, is uniquely effective at driving economic
growth to a modern city.
The Arts Campus will draw a ride range of creative minds from all walks of life to
the center of Jerusalem. It will attract a massive influx of the young creative class to
attend the city’s premier arts institutions, anchoring these artists and their young
families in Jerusalem, bringing a diverse, vibrant population to the city’s workforce,
school systems, and communities. By attracting these young people and families
to the city during these critical years in their development, the Jerusalem Arts
Campus will ensure that these members of the creative class stay grounded in
Jerusalem for decades, and will help transform the city center into a thriving
cultural hub, where commerce and the arts exist side by side, for the benefit of all
Jerusalem’s residents and visitors.
