Gift to the Israel Museum Jerusalem

A short time after the opening the larger and upgraded Israel Museum campus we have decided to gift our collection of Israeli Art of 1970s to the museum. We were impressed with work done because the museum has succeeded in increasing its space considerably without hurting its prize winning original planning by Mansfeld. It also succeeded in remaining an inviting calming place despite its size and finally it has upgraded its curatorial performance incredibly. Our collection was started in the mid-1990s when we realized that the 1970s was arguably the most important decade in Israeli art. There were three reasons for this: firstly, it was the first time that Israeli artists were in tandem with their colleagues abroad; secondly, it was the first time that female artists were to the forefront of art in Israel; and last but not least – reflecting our personal taste – this was a highly intellectual group of artists where ideas were perhaps even more important than the aesthetic. But make no mistake: we love this aesthetic and so does everyone who visits the show of our collection currently on view in the museum (11/2017-3/2018) .

This collection is now the foundation of the period collection in the museum.
